Professor Joe Cain teaches across a broad range of subjects in history and philosophy of science, science communication, and science and technology studies. Most teaching occurs at UCL via UCL Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS). For more information about modules, timetables, and teaching, visit the STS portal for current students. This page provides basic information about Joe’s modules to introduce the content and range. As is common throughout higher education, most teaching material for the modules themselves is located in password-protected digital environments, such as UCL Moodle. This is not a complete list of everything that I’ve ever taught. Rather, it’s a list of the main modules that are in the active UCL module catalogue that I have been responsible for developing and producing.

NB: Which spelling is correct: Masters or Master’s or Masters’? The current convention is “Masters” without the apostrophe. This is a simplification rather than an argument based on grammar. It simplifies the machine coding and it simplifies the writing, esp. for those without an intricate knowledge of English grammar.
