WeAreSTS Podcast Continues in 2022

Over the 2021-22 academic year, I’m continuing to host and produce the podcast, “WeAreSTS: Science and Technology Studies at University College London (UCL)”. Have you given it a listen? The overall goal of the podcast series is to bring STS to our audience. We want to help teachers, applicants, and influencers answer questions about our subject:

  • What is STS?
  • What does work in the subject involve?
  • Why would I want to do it, too?
  • What do people do with an STS degree?
  • Is this career direction for me?

Please consider subscribing and rating the show. It helps with ranking and visibility if you subscribe to the show, leave a comment, and share links to the show with your friends. We also publish the show on SoundCloud and embed this on the main site for the project: ucl.ac.uk/sts/podcast. This also is where we post our show notes and additional information about the programme. If you’d like to say more, we have a feedback form on ucl.ac.uk/sts/podcast.

Involving Students in WeAreSTS

I designed WeAreSTS for students and staff to easily be involved. In 2021, we offered paid studentships through the STSNewsRoom project in which six students spent eight weeks in a traineeship programme in science journalism. They produced materials for STS Alchemy 2021, and each of the students produced a 30-ish minute podcast for release in our series.

We’ll try to repeat the same in 2022, and we’re in search of funding now. Always, we encourage independent, freelance projects, too. The overall idea is to involve STS students in ways that are creative, engaging, and skill developing. If you’re an STS student and want to be involved with the podcast, just get in touch.
